Review:
I'm still at lost of words. It was surprisingly... good. It gave off a We Were Liars vibe at first which, not gonna lie, made me a bit iffy. BUT the further I got through the story the more it made sense. I'm not a fan of multiple perspectives, but this book pulled it off really nicely. Each character were all so different from each other yet they're all somehow connected, and the way the author weaved them together was so brilliantly done.
This was a VERY quick read as well. Each character only gets a few pages before it transitions to another character. You learn about each one per chapter break. I particularly liked Watt and Rylin's point of view. They were both very simple yet intriguing characters. Watt is this genius technician who owns an illegal computing system while Rylin is just a maid, then stuff gets really complicated and melodramatic and the pacing just escalates as you go (as if it wasn't fast enough already.)
Yes, it's a chick-flick novel, so yes, there are some pretty darn annoying characters. I was so ready to put this book back down but I couldn't. No, let me rephrase that. I wouldn't. Yes it was pulling your hair out annoying, but there's this mystery vibe that lingers and you can't help but read on to find out, and oh boy, once you actually get there, it bursts right at your face and leaves behind the remnants trickling down your face. You'll be left dumbstruck and, if you're a bit too attached to the characters, a little scared too...
Overall I'm very impressed with how this book turned out. I'm not a fan of drama, glamour, or Sci-Fi, and this book had it all and more. But look how that turned out for me. It's safe to say that i pretty much NEED the second book in my hands because I NEED to know what happened.
Technically speaking, if you are a fan of Gossip Girl, this is legitimately THE ideal book for y'all. BUT for a girl who stopped watching the show mid-way through the season because of how irrational and frustrating the characters were, I still enjoyed it. If you want a book that you can read in one night with a cup of fresh brewed tea/coffee and cozy blankets to snuggle with (or hide under, your choice), pick this book up!
